Adventure Karts Photographer

Location: Ketchikan

Work in a place of great beauty photographing guests enjoying the ride of a lifetime. Utilize your photo skills to capture fun action shots of guests as they ride up in their Karts then walk around the group and capture stills and portrait shots. Get to see many people through a day and be a part of their Alaskan dream. You will ride out in your own Kart being prepared to spend the day photographing guests and the beauty of the inside passage.

Adventure Kart Guide

Location: Ketchikan

Guide visitors in a professional, courteous, and informative manner at Whipple Creek, while being responsible for the safety and well-being of guests during tour operations. This position is responsible for all duties associated with tours: guide, open and close of building, cleaning site and gear, and fueling karts.

Retail Guide

Location: Ketchikan

The Retail Guide cordially greets the guests and helps them to find the items they are looking for. Works at the cash register and uses the Point of Sale software. Helps maintain the guest areas including, restrooms and snack booth as well as the general areas. Helps with making and maintaining snacks. Applicants must have an outgoing personality and good customer service skills, be comfortable with handling cash and be able to understand POS system.

Transportation Coordinator

Location: Ketchikan

This position is responsible for all tour groups arriving back to their ship at the scheduled time. This individual works closely with the independent tour and dispatch desk. This job requires an individual who is organized, prompt, can multi-task, and has high energy and enjoys working with the public. This person is the last point of contact with the tour guests and will be responsible for making sure their transfers go smoothly.

CDL Driver Guide

Location: Ketchikan

The CDL Driver Guide is responsible for the transportation of customers and crew in a safe and timely manner. Duties include a certain level of maintenance and cleaning. Commitment to safety, clean driving record and CDL License with passenger endorsement required. People skills are a must as drivers are required to provide narration. Training provided for qualified applicants.

Driver Guide

Location: Ketchikan

The Driver Guide is responsible for the transportation of customers and crew in a safe and timely manner. Duties include a certain level of maintenance and cleaning. Commitment to safety and a clean driving record are required. People skills are a must as drivers are required to provide narration. Training provided for qualified applicants.

Trail Guide

Location: Ketchikan

The Trail Guide is responsible for providing information to our guest about the flora, fauna, wildlife, and history of Herring Cove and the surrounding area. Trail guides ensure our guest receives a memorable and professional nature experience.

Zipline Guide

Location: Ketchikan

A Zipline Guide is responsible for instructing and leading participant groups onto zip course with another zipline guide. Applicants must have a strong risk management and customer service orientation. Qualified applicants will go through an extensive training program and must pass a written and on-the-job skill test. Additional training is provided for any job functions as required.

Customer Service Representative

Location: Ketchikan

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for all aspects of the customer’s experience for Taquan Air.

Bear Guide

Location: Ketchikan

As a naturalist bear guide, it is your utmost responsibility to ensure quality customer service is paramount. This responsibility includes  diligently maintaining the vehicle driven each day and providing each participant with a quality nature/wildlife experience. In addition to company product knowledge, this position also requires the knowledge and adherence to company safety procedures and requirements.

Dock Representative

Location: Ketchikan

Dock Reps are responsible for meeting and providing introductory information to all arriving guests who are on scheduled tours. Applicants must have strong customer service skills and be capable of positively representing the company to cruise lines, partners and customers.

Photographer

Location: Ketchikan

Photograph all guests as they zip through on the last line. Edit crop and sell photos when time allows between tours. Assist store manager and clerk in the running of the store. Take photos on the course or as needed and time allows. Applicants should have knowledge of digital photography and some basic editing experience, be comfortable with cash handling and customer service.

Dock Operations Lead

Location: Juneau

The Dock Operations Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and coordination of daily tours and collection of services provided to cruise lines and other customers. This position serves as the liaison between the company and cruise lines as well as the transportation companies. Applicants must have a tourism industry background with experience in financial transactions and customer service.

Dock Representative

Location: Juneau

Dock Reps are responsible for meeting and directing arriving/departing guests to their tour. Qualified employee must possess the knowledge of the entire tour and able to explain all the facts to guest. Applicants must have strong customer service orientation and understanding of financial transactions. Represent company to cruise lines, groups and individual customers.

Operations Manager

Location: Juneau

The Operations Manager in Juneau is responsible for the supervision of canopy operations including, but not limited to training, compliance of canopy guides, adherence to industry safety standards, maintenance of Canopy Course, and related administrative duties.

Operations Supervisor

Location: Juneau

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of canopy course operations. This position requires strong understanding of and experience with canopy tour operations and training standards. Applicants must have risk management background. Qualified applicants will go through a training program and must pass written and on-the-job skill tests before hired.

Zipline Guide

Location: Juneau

A Zipline guide is responsible for instructing and leading participant groups onto zip course with another zipline guide. This position may require prior knowledge of climbing and rappelling, and applicants must have a strong risk management orientation. Qualified applicants will go through an extensive training program and must pass a written and on the- job skill test. Additional training is provided for any job description changes once the initial training program is completed.

Driver Guide

Location: Juneau

The Driver Guide is responsible for the transportation of customers and crew in a safe and timely manner. Duties include a certain level of maintenance and cleaning. Commitment to safety and a clean driving record are required. People skills are a must as drivers are required to provide narration. Training provided for qualified applicants.

Sales and Service Manager

Location: Juneau

The Manager of Sales and Service will be responsible for developing key growth sales strategies, working with 3rd party partners, to develop action plans to meet budget goals. Successful execution of these strategies is required to achieve financial targets. This position will also oversee the seasonal cruise ship dock operation.

Taquan Air’s Safety Management System Program

FIRST FAA-ACCEPTED PART 135 AIR TAXI SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS) PROGRAM IN ALASKA

In January 2021, Taquan Air became the first Part 135 Air Taxi Operator in the State of Alaska to receive the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) acceptance of a Safety Management System (SMS) developed in accordance with the standards and requirements set forth in the FAA’s SMS Voluntary Program.

AN ORGANIZATION-WIDE PROGRAM TO MANAGE SAFETY IN LINE WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Taquan Air’s SMS is a formal, top down, organization-wide approach to managing safety and ensuring the effectiveness of safety risk controls and was implemented in line with the international standards which led to the FAA’s program.
 
SMS elements include organizational policies which define the accountabilities and responsibilities of our leaders and employees regarding safety; a formal process for identifying, analyzing, assessing and controlling safety risks; assuring the effectiveness of safety controls through collecting, analyzing and assessing information; and, the training and communications necessary to promote the program overall.
 

 ACTIVE SMS APPLICATIONS THROUGHOUT THE FLIGHT, MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORTING PROGRAMS

Through policy, process, training and promotion, the SMS guides and supports key decisions related to preflight, inflight and post-flight actions; aircraft maintenance, equipment and operations; the use of navigation systems with synthetic vision, tracking and moving map capabilities; enhanced communications capabilities and, related initiatives promoting the safety of our guests, our employees and our environment overall.

Taquan customers enjoy our state-of-the-art, custom-built facility, with a comfortable lobby, water view and floatplane dock with its waterfront patio.

The 16,000 square foot facility is located in Ketchikan’s 6.0 acre Harbor Point Business Park located at 4085 Tongass Avenue. Vehicles access the business park via a separate entrance and exit driveways from Tongass Avenue, with motorcoach loading, unloading and staging areas as well as ample short and long-term parking for customers.

The spacious check-in area, passenger lounge, gift shop and restrooms are specifically designed to handle groups large and small. Other features in this spacious complex include:
